Florida Statutes 465.014 requires pharmacy technicians to register with the Florida Department of Health, and to be eligible for registration technicians must complete a Board approved training program as defined under rule 64B16-26.351. The Florida Pharmacy Association is pleased to offer an employer based technician training program for Florida pharmacies.

If you have an FPA membership, follow the prompts to recover/create your login credentials for the new system using the email address associated with your membership.
If you are not a member, close the login popup box and proceed with enrollment.

Recipient & Billing info:
Upon checkout the “recipient information” will need to be the name and contact information of the technician that is enrolling in the program. The billing information could be either choice of the technician’s billing information or the pharmacy, supervising pharmacist or pharmacy owner’s billing information if that is desired. You have the option to pay by check. Download and submit the Technician Training Program Pay By Check Form under the Documents to Download section above.

It is recommended that technicians who successfully complete this training program to sign up to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board examination. For more information visit www.ptcb.org.

  • How many total hours of training is this program? Number of hours of training = 240
  • How long do I have to complete the program? Length of training period = 4 to 6 months 
  • What is the minimum number of questions on the exam? The minimum number of evaluation questions = 100
  • What is the breakdown of the subject matter in the program? 
    • Introduction to pharmacy and health care systems = 6%
    • Pharmacy law = 6%
    • Pharmaceutical-medical terminology, abbreviations, and symbols = 33%
    • Records management and inventory control = 6%
    • Interpersonal relations, communications, and ethics = 5%
    • Pharmaceutical calculations = 29%
